- Administering computers and their associated hardware and software
- Being the primary focal point for support calls, resolving or reassigning incoming issues, documenting calls using the help desk system
- Troubleshooting issues to isolate problem, then resolve or escalate as needed, meeting departmental objectives (i.e. resolving calls within specified time; documenting problem from initial contact to resolution)
- Creating and maintaining documentation for procedures
- Occasional off-hours support for patching, or hardware/software related issues
- Assisting with backups
- Providing end user training where required
- Assisting with the administrative functions of the IT Department
- Working with peers on projects assigned
- Conducting initial research on pricing for desktops, printers, etc.
- Some local branch travel
- 3 years minimum experience in a Help Desk/Customer support environment
- Bachelors degree a plus
- A+, N+ certifications a plus
- Extensive knowledge of PC hardware installation and configuration
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows XP Pro, MS Office and other desktop applications
- Configuring peripherals such as scanners, printers, CD burners, etc.
- Experience diagnosing problems remotely
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server 2000/Server 2003
- Experience with any of these applications is a plus (not necessary): Blackberry, LANDesk, Exchange, SQL, IIS and Anti-virus suites
- LAN/WAN experience a plus
- Server experience a plus
- Conceptual understanding of current trends in information technology and a desire to expand personal knowledge of LAN and Internet technologies
- Flexibility and the ability to set priorities, organize time and identify resources for projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly explain technical problems, terms, and solutions
- Excellent customer-service skills and a high level of enthusiasm
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Critical thinking, strong problem-solving capability and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to handle large packages (boxes containing computers or other IT equipment) weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop and crawl (connecting computers under desks)
